Description
A badge pin to commemorate 100 years since the Battle of Trafalgar. The Royal Navy defeated the larger French and Spanish fleets under direction from Admiral Horatio Nelson who died near the end of the battle. This pin was sold as a souvenir for the 100th anniversary and was made using copper from Admiral Nelson’s ship. The back says “Centenary Memento of the Death of Nelson, 1805 Oct. 21st 1905. Containing copper from H.M.S. Victory. The gift of the Lords of the Admiralty to British & Foreign Sailors Society. E.R. VII”
